Lawn Road Retreat opened its full-size pickleball court in 2026, and it’s quickly become one of the most popular reasons groups book. Whether you’re a competitive club, a mixed group of enthusiasts, or a team looking to mix some sport with some serious downtime — the setup here is hard to beat.

The court sits within the property grounds, with the hot tub, pool, and outdoor entertaining area all nearby. Play morning and evening. Spend the middle of the day eating, resting, or exploring the Hawke’s Bay wine trail. Come back and do it again.

Groups organise their own play — whether that’s casual round robins, structured tournaments, or bringing in your own coach or facilitator for the weekend. The property gives you the space; you bring the game.

A purpose-built pickleball court — not an afterthought or a repurposed driveway. The surface is suited to year-round play, with regulation dimensions and enough run-off to play comfortably. The adjacent tennis court means evening sessions are possible once the Hawke’s Bay sun goes down.

Paddles and balls available at the property. Bring your own gear if you prefer — there’s plenty of storage, and we can help you plan the logistics of a full retreat schedule.

Every pickleball retreat looks different. Here are some of the ways groups use Lawn Road Retreat for a pickleball weekend — all self-organised, or with a coach or facilitator you bring along.

Club members or regular playing partners who want more than a Saturday session. Book the whole property, set up your own round robin, and make a proper weekend of it.

Coached Retreat

Bring your own coach or clinician and use the property as a base. Morning sessions on court, afternoons free to explore Hawke’s Bay, evenings together. A structured weekend that doesn’t feel like work.

Not a competitive club, just a group who love playing. Come for the sport, stay for the hot tub, the wine, and the fact that for once no one has to drive home at the end of the evening.
