Lawn Road Retreat is privately owned and personally looked after by Pen Cropper. It’s not managed by a corporation or run from a distance — Pen knows the property well, cares about who stays here, and is personally involved in making every group feel looked after.
The retreat has a Qualmark Gold rating and a reputation for repeat guests — families who come back for milestone birthdays, golf groups who make it an annual trip, couples who’ve discovered it’s the best base in Hawke’s Bay.

Comprehensive recycling — including soft plastics and batteries taken to the local Environment Centre.
